    1a. The sound represented in English and several other languages by the letter h;
    1b. A voiceless plosive sound such as /p/, /t/ or /k/ that has an audible breathiness after the stop has been released.
verb aspirated, aspirating
    1a. phonetics.
      To pronounce a word with an h sound as opposed to ‘dropping' it, eg to give the word hedgehog its full phonetic value, rather than saying ‘edge'og, as in some varieties of English;
    1b. phonetics.
      To give a voiceless plosive an audible breathiness after the stop has been released.
    2. To withdraw (liquid, gas or solid debris) from a cavity by suction.
