    1. The process of sticking or adhering.
    2. The sticking together of two surfaces, especially by means of an adhesive.
    3. physics.
      The attraction between atoms or molecules of different substances, eg water and glass, that produces surface tension effects. See also cohesion.
    4. pathol.
      A mass or band of fibrous connective tissue that develops, especially after surgery or injury, between membranes or other structures which are normally separate.
      Form: adhesions (often)
