      Any of numerous organic chemical compounds containing one or more hydroxyl groups, used as solvents for dyes, resins, varnishes, perfume oils, etc, and as fuels.
    2. ethanol, especially when used as an intoxicant in alcoholic beverages.
    3. Any drink containing this liquid, such as wine or beer.
