noun
    1. A diamond pattern on knitwear, etc.
    2. A garment with this pattern, especially socks or a jumper.
      Example: Frank got a pair of argyles for his birthday
Etymology: 18c: a variant of Argyll, because the pattern was based on the tartan of Campbell of Argyll.
