    1. The layer of gas surrounding a planet, especially the Earth, and held to it by gravity.
    2. The air in a particular place.
      Example: the humid atmosphere of the greenhouse
    3. The mood of a book, film, painting, piece of music, etc or the general impression that it gives.
      Example: the sultry atmosphere of film noir
    4. The general or prevailing climate or mood.
      Example: an atmosphere of jubilation

    5. A unit of atmospheric pressure, equal to normal air pressure at sea level.
