    1. A small two-piece swimming costume for women.
    2. A pair of scantily-cut briefs, especially ones for women.
      Form: bikinis (usually)
Etymology: 1940s: named after Bikini, an atoll in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific where atom-bomb experiments were first held in 1946; the bikini's effect was supposed to be similarly ‘explosive'.
