    1. A constantly repeating series of events or processes.
    2. A recurring period of years; an age.
      Thesaurus: succession, period, age, eon, epic, era.
    3. physics.
      One of a regularly repeated set of similar changes, eg in the movement of a wave, with the duration of one cycle being equal to the period (noun 10) of the motion, and the rate at which a cycle is repeated per unit time being equal to its frequency (noun 3).
    4. A series of poems, songs, plays, etc centred on a particular person or happening.
