    3. A glass funnel protecting the flame of a lamp.
    4. mountaineering.
      A steep narrow cleft in a rock face, just large enough for a mountaineer to enter and climb.
Etymology: 14c: from French cheminee, from Latin camera caminata room with a fireplace.
