fumitory
noun
    fumitories
    1. An annual plant with slender stems, bluish-green leaves and flowers with four pink petals with blackish-purple tips, found as a common weed on cultivated ground.
Etymology: 14c: from French fume-terre, from Latin fumus smoke + terra earth, so named because it grows so rapidly that its spread was compared to the spread of fire.
