A member of an East Germanic people (see under Germanic) who invaded various parts of the Roman Empire between the third and fifth centuries.
2. A rude or uncivilized person.
3. Someone who dresses mainly in black, often having dyed black or purple hair and stark black and white make-up, and who identifies with Gothic Rock music.
