    1. Any of various freshwater fishes, related to the salmon, that have silvery scales with a greenish-gold sheen, dark zigzag lines along the length of the body and a large purplish spiny dorsal fin.
    2. Any of various European butterflies with grey or greyish-brown wings with eyespots, and front legs reduced to small brush-like appendages.
