      In the SI system: a unit of thermodynamic or absolute temperature, equal to 1/273.16 of the absolute temperature of the triple point of water, and equal in magnitude to one degree on the Celsius scale.

Etymology: 19c: named after the UK physicist Sir William Thomson, Lord Kelvin (1824‐1907).
