- 1. Pasta in the form of thin flat sheets which can be flavoured with spinach, tomato, etc.
2. A dish made up of layers of these sheets of pasta alternating with layers of, traditionally, minced beef (or alternatively vegetables) in a tomato sauce, topped with a cheese sauce and then browned in the oven.
