    1. A collar for a yoked ox, formed from a piece of U-shaped wood the ends of which are attached to the yoke.
    2a. geol.
      A horseshoe-shaped bend or meander in a river;
    2b. geol.
      A shallow curved lake found on a flat floodplain alongside a meandering river, and formed when one of the meanders has been cut off by the formation of a stream across the neck of the bend.
