    1. The change in direction of a particle or wave, eg the turning back of a ray of light, either when it strikes a smooth surface that it does not penetrate, such as a mirror or polished metal, or when it reaches the boundary between two media. Compare refraction.
    2. The act of reflecting.
    3. A reflected image.
      Example: looked at his reflection in the mirror

    4. Careful and thoughtful consideration; contemplation.
