    1. A rivet-like metal peg that is fitted on to a surface, eg of a garment, for decoration.
    2. Any of several peg-like projections on the sole of a sports boot or shoe that give added grip, when playing football, hockey, etc.
    3. A type of small round plainish earring or nose-ring, sometimes set with a precious or semi-precious stone, that has a post that goes through a hole and which is usually fastened at the back with a butterfly.
    4. A fastener consisting of two small discs on either end of a short bar or shank, eg for fixing a collar to a shirt.
    5. A short form of press stud.
