    1. Someone who is anatomically of one sex but who adopts the characteristics, behaviour, etc usually perceived as typical of a member of the opposite sex, often as a prelude to having some form of medical treatment to alter their physical attributes.
    2. Someone who has had medical, hormonal and/or surgical treatment to alter their physical features so that they more closely resemble those of the opposite sex.
